Today it was sunny but quite windy here and we decided to drive towards Ventspils to see what interesting camping spots were still on the way.
The map shows the route we took and another map shows where the campsites should be. There were several campsite advertising signs on the road and we visited all of them.
It can be said that between Liepaja and Ventspils, where we are now, is probably the only normal campsite. For example, one that is marked as a campsite on the map was located in the yard of a private house in a settlement.
The second, third and fourth were again on a forest road that was difficult to drive to the end. There was also a campsite in a roadside hotel, but there were also only a few cars in front of it. There were no campers or campers anywhere.

On the other hand, there were people staying at public swimming spots, but not many.
On the Ventspils side, the campsites were built on fields and it wasn’t even interesting to look at. It’s interesting that there are a lot of seaside properties for sale here.
Driving along the roads, every couple of kilometers there was a sign “Pardod” with a phone number underneath. Driving around here, I’m amazed at the locals’ indifference to road maintenance. For example, if I had such an institution, I would even plan the road myself if the municipality couldn’t handle it.
In Ventspils, all we could do was visit an open-air anchor museum, which was called Jurmala Park for some reason. I’ve also put a few pictures of it here, maybe someone will be interested. The heaviest anchor, which was right by the gate, weighed 23 tons according to the sign 🙂
